The Examinations Print E-mail
Haut-Lac provides the opportunity for students to take a wide variety of examinations depending on their starting language level and what their goals are for using their newly acquired language skills.

In English there are three different exam possibilities:

Cambridge ESOL

This is a department of the world-famous and historic University of Cambridge. Attaining one of its certificates is an achievement and a reward in itself. However, there are many benefits to taking Cambridge ESOL Exams:
  • Your language certificate is valid for life. You will not need to take the exam again
  • Your certificate is a truly international certificate, recognised around the world for business and study purposes
  • Thousands of employers, universities and government departments officially recognise Cambridge exams as a qualification level in English
  • Cambridge ESOL exams give you a pathway to progress from basic qualifications (PET) to higher qualifications such as the First Certificate in English FCE or Certificate of Advanced English CAE.

IELTS

This is the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is jointly managed by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

The TOEFL® Test (Test of English as a Foreign Language™)

This measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings.

In French we offer the following possibility:

DELF/DALF

The French Ministry of National Education awards two Diploma’s, the DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes de Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française). These Diploma’s correspond to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) - from level A1 to level C2

The DELF is divided into four levels:
  • Level A1 and A2
  • Level B1 to B2

Levels can be taken individually in any order, and once passed a credit is given which remains valid indefinitely.

The DALF is made up of two levels (C1 and C2).As with the DELF, credit units are permanently valid.
